Many potential U.S. CPA exam candidates are not aware that it can be a bit complicated to determine whether they are eligible or not, especially because eligibility rules are constantly changing.  For example until recently, New Mexico accepted as eligible candidates who had three year bachelor degrees and a professional accounting designation.  Now candidates are not allowed to use any professional coursework to qualify to sit for the exam for this state.  There are only a few states left that continue to accept specific types of professional coursework.
