Prometric Exam Center Closures and Safety Precautions

Please check for the latest information on closures, rescheduling and safety precautions by visiting:

Information will be updated often as AICPA, NASBA and Prometric continually monitor the virus situation.

Emergency Testing Period

In anticipation of the reopening of Prometric test centers and in response to the COVID-19 situation, NASBA, AICPA and Prometric have made the decision to invoke an emergency testing period to provide additional testing opportunities. As part of this procedure, the 20Q2 testing window will be extended from June 10, 2020, to June 30, 2020. Check the Prometric website  for updates and to schedule your testing date.

Continuous Testing

Current test center closures will not affect the plan for Continuous Testing, which launches July 1, 2020.

Notice to Schedule (NTS)

All NTS with expirations between April 1 – June 30, 2020, have been extended until September 30, 2020. At this time, no action is required by candidates and there is no need to contact NASBA or your Board of Accountancy. If your exam credit expires outside of this window, you will need to follow normal policies to request an extension.

NASBA has identified all candidates who have an open NTS and credit expiring through June 30, 2020, and provided this information to Boards with a recommendation to grant an extension of credit if the candidate is impacted by circumstances beyond their control. Due to the closure of many board offices, the decisions to extend conditional credit will not be finalized until Boards resume normal operations. There is no need to contact Boards at this time.

18-Month Window Extension

CPA Exam credit extensions will be considered beyond the 18-month window on a case-by-case basis. Please contact your state board to request an extension.

Semester Hour Changes

Several state boards of public accountancy have passed temporary emergency measures to change the number of semester hours for in-person classes. Many universities are moving classes online amid COVID-19 concerns, which is what prompted this decision. CPA Exam candidates, we encourage you to review your specific State Board of Public Accountancy to understand changes in your state, specifically the start/end dates and if the changes are retroactive.
