How to Register for the CIA Exam
The CIA exam is entirely computer-based and, as such, the three exam parts can be taken at any time throughout the year at one of the 500+ Pearson VUE centers worldwide, or via a local testing provider.
CIA Exam Dates
There are no set CIA exam dates and a candidate can take the exam practically any time throughout the year. However, we recommend setting up your CIA exam dates in advance and giving yourself at least two or three months of study time before sitting for the exam. If you wish, you can also choose to take several parts of the exam on the same day, but we would recommend spacing out your CIA exam dates.
CIA Exam Registration
The CIA exam registration process is a simple, straightforward online process that’s managed via the IAA’s Certification Candidate Management System (CCMS).
The CCMS allows you to monitor your certification progress, access exam scores, report the continuing professional education (CPE) credits, and access and print receipts for your exam.
After paying the application fee, you’ll receive a confirmation email that will allow you to log back in and complete the registration process and pay your exam fees (see fees).
After completing the application and paying your fees, you can then can schedule your CIA exam on the Pearson VUE website. You’ll be able to select a testing center and choose your preferred language for the CIA exam. You’ll then receive an appointment confirmation from Pearson.
